Beirut : At least seven people were killed and around 20 injured in clashes between protestors and the army in Mar Mkhayel area at the eastern entrance of southern Beirut on Sunday, a security source said.
He told KUNA gun fire was heard for a limited period in Mar Mkhayel tonight and noted that the Lebanese army has arrested a group of people.
Riots have gradually decreased following calls by Hezbollah and Amal movements for calm and for protestors to leave the streets.
The Lebanese army said people were protesting electricity blackout in Mar Mkhayel, and the protestors have set tyres afire and blocked roads.
