Ranchi : The police in this capital city of Jharkhand have directed owners of all malls and small shopping complexes to fit close circuit television (CCTV) cameras in order to keep vigil on movement of suspicious people.
“The shopping complexes and malls have been directed in fit close circuit cameras in the complexes so that the movement of suspect people could be noticed,” said Senior Superintendent Of Police (SSP) of Ranchi M.S. Bhatia.
“The number of malls is increasing day by day in the state capital. It is indeed difficult to ensure static force in each shopping complex, as the number of security personnel is limited. The mall owners have also been directed to appoint private security guards for security of vehicles and people,” he said.
Ranchi police have also directed the mall owners to find out the identity of the people and companies who are purchasing flats in the complexes or taking them on rent, Bhatia said, and added: “In recent times scores of fake companies have been found”.
Ranchi police have swung into action because of the terror threats by the Maoist groups and terrorists, the SSP said.
“The central and state intelligence agencies have warned us to be alert on festivals as the terrorists might target small cities like Ranchi and Jamshedpur,” said another police official.
