Rural power project launched in West Bengal district

New Delhi : Work began Tuesday for electrification and strengthening of power distribution infrastructure in rural areas of Uttar Dinajpur district of West Bengal under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) scheme.

“Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde launched RGGVY programme in Uttar Dinajpur district of West Bengal on January 29,” said an official statement.

“Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting P.R. Dasmunshi was also present on this occasion,” the statement added.

The RGGVY aims at providing electricity in all villages and habitations of the country in four years and provide access to electricity to all rural households.

The central government provides subsidy of up to 90 percent of the capital expenditure for implementing the RGGVY scheme in states.
