Gaza : Two Palestinian militants were killed and two others wounded on Wednesday in a gun battle with an Israeli army force in the town of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza Strip, said medics and residents of the town.
The residents said that a special Israeli army force backed by armored vehicles stormed the northern area of the town, who was confronted by Palestinian militants.
Heavy and intensive clashes erupted in the area, where sounds of gunfire and explosions could be heard in the area, they said, adding that the gun battle lasted for more than two hours.
Palestinian paramedics said they evacuated bodies of two militants and two wounded to the hospital in the town.
Earlier Wednesday, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad (Holy War) claimed responsibility for launching three mortar shells at an Israeli army post near the borders between central Gaza Strip and Israel.
Israel Radio in Arabic reported that no damages or injuries were reported in the attack.
