Mumbai : Ajanta Pharma has reported a 49 percent increase in net profit for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2007 compared to the same period last year.
Net profit for the Oct-Dec quarter amounted to Rs.39.4 million ($1.01 million) compared to Rs.26.5 million ($67,948) during the corresponding period last year.
For the nine-month period ending Dec 31, 2007, the gross sales were to tune of around Rs.2.03 billion ($52.05 million) and net profit was Rs.90.4 million ($2.31 million), up by 24 and 49 percent, respectively, over the corresponding period the previous year.
During the quarter, Ajanta Pharma won “Quality Excellence Award 2007 – Silver” for formulation units with annual turnover exceeding Rs.1 billion by the Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association for its Aurangabad facility in Maharashtra.
