Sri Lanka beat Australian PM’s XI

Canberra (Australia) : Sri Lankans warmed up in style for the upcoming one-day triangular series by thrashing a Prime Minister’s XI by four wickets here Thursday.

Fast bowlers Lasith Malinga captured three for 33 and Farveez Maharoof bagged three 37 to bowl out the rivals for 152 in 38 overs at Manuka Oval. Queensland all-rounder Ashley Noffke top scored with 30.

Sri Lanka reached the target in the 32nd over with four wickets to spare. Tillakaratne Dilshan was the top scorer with an unbeaten 74.

“The start was very good for us, but there were a few loose shots,” said Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene.

PM’s XI captain Cameron White admitted it was a “disappointing result”.

The triangular series starts with an India-Australia match in Brisbane Sunday.
