Tehran : Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his cabinet ministers on Saturday paid tribute to the Father of the Islamic Revolution, the late Imam Khomeini.
On the second day of the annual `Ten-Day Dawn’ celebrations marking the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the president and members of his cabinet attended the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini to renew allegiance to the ideals of the late leader.
Custodian of the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, Hassan Khomeini, was present in the ceremony.
They also attended graveyard of the martyrs of the 1980-88 Iraqi-imposed war and that of the Islamic Revolution.
In the meantime, they visited the tombs of former president Mohammad-Ali Rajaei and his prime minister Mohammad-Javad Bahonar who were martyred in a terrorist bomb blast at the presidential office on August 30, 1981.
On February 1, 1979, the Father of the Islamic Revolution arrived at Mehrabad International Airport from exile in Paris was greeted by millions of enthusiastic well-wishers.
The late Imam immediately proceeded to the national cemetery in Behesht-e Zahra, south of Tehran, where he delivered a speech announcing his plan to form the Islamic Republic.
