Allam Mi strongly criticized the Sudanese government of President Omar Hassan Al Bashir for his alleged support of the rebels combating the forces of Idris Deby, even in the capital, N’Djamena.

According to Chad officials, the rebel offensive that left the east escorted by helicopters of the air force of the neighboring country, directly attacked the city of Adre on the border with Sudan.

Khartoum was quick to deny support while French troop sources in Chad assured that they saw no Sudanese ships.

For their part, soldiers claimed that they rebuffed a rebel offensive against N’Djamena after two days of heavy fighting.

The Foreign Affairs minister added that government forces expelled the rebels from the city but a report released by the guerrilla stated that the withdrawal was to allow civilians to leave before a possible decisive battle.

“We are all around the city,” spokesman Abderaman Koulamallah told the press revealing the possibility that at any moment clashes could break out.

Confrontations in the city forced many city dwellers to seek refuge in neighboring Cameroon.

According to persons taken in by UN High Commissioner for Refugees rebels forced many residents of Chad to abandon the capital in the middle of the night.

Humanitarian aid groups reported that there are hundreds of wounded among civilians after combats near the presidential palace in N’Djamena. Witnesses spoke of bodies scattered in the streets although there is no official confirmation of victims.
