Beirut : Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa on Friday has decided to stay further in Lebanon and proceed with his mission aiming to narrow the political gap among feuding Lebanese factions.
In an effort to work out a settlement to the ongoing political crisis, Moussa postponed his departure from Beirut, scheduled Friday afternoon, in order to resume talks on that regard, Media Office of Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said in a statement.
Moussa, who flew in Thursday, held four hours of talks at parliament with opposition representative and Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun, majority representatives, ex-President Amin Gemayel and Mustaqbal Movement leader said Hariri.
He also held separate talks later with Premier Fuad Al-Siniora, in addition to Berri.
Following the quartet talks at the house, Moussa announced that a consensus was reached on some points, but more discussions were needed. He noted that Lebanese Army Commander Michel Suleiman remains a consensual candidate for president.
