Sofia : Serbian Ambassador in Bulgaria Danilo Vuchetic said his country will continue defending its interests and national security and will not acknowledge the announcement of Kosovo’s independence.
Vuchetic told KUNA that the unilateral announcement is illegal and violates three important international documents which are the United Nations (UN) charter, the 1975 Helsinki agreement that stated that the borders of European countries can not be modified or changed without a signed agreement, and UN Security Council resolution 1422 that stated that Kosovo is part of Serbia.
The Ambassador said Serbia was expecting the move and had decided three days before the announcement to consider it null and void.
Serbia will not use military action to solve the dispute on the region but will look for international political, democratic, and legal means, he pointed out.
He noted that his country called for holding an urgent session at the UNSC and other international organizations, adding that the Serbian Cabinet decided to take other actions during its urgent meeting on the issue.
The decisions of the Cabinet are still to be revealed.
Vuchetic said most of the properties in Kosovo, including the power supply system, are those of Serbian people and companies.
