New Delhi : A city court Wednesday remanded a Delhi Police official to three days’ judicial custody for allegedly accepting a bribe from an associate of multi-million kidney racket kingpin Amit Kumar.
On Saturday, the court ordered the police to conduct an identification parade of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ravinder Kumar, and the officer identified Upendra Aggarwal as the man who paid him the bribe to let off main accused Amit.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate A.K. Kohar sent Ravinder to three days’ judicial custody.
The Delhi police arrested Ravinder last week and registered a case against him and six other police officials. They are now absconding.
Upendra was the first person arrested when the racket was unearthed Jan 24 in a Gurgaon clinic run by Amit alias Santosh Rameshwar Raut.
The multi-billion rupee racket of kidney transplants served international clients from Britain, the US, Greece, Lebanon, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Dubai.
