PPP, ANP agree on judiciary reforms, supremacy of parliament

Islamabad : Co-chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party Asif Ali Zardari and chief of the Awami National Party (ANP) Asfand Yar Wali agreed on Thursday on several key matters, paving the way for cooperation in government formation.

Leaders of both parties agreed to work for the supremacy of the parliament, rule of law, judicial reforms and war against terrorism.

The leaders in one-and-half hour meeting exchanged proposals, which will come under discussion in the party meetings.

Talking to the media after the meeting, Asfandyar Wali thanked the PPP delegation’s visit and said that both sides have agreed to work jointly.

“There will be more progress after the meetings,” he said.

Asfandyar Wali said that both sides have agreed to move forward together for the rule of law and the supremacy of the parliament in the country.

“We will struggle for the supremacy of parliament and not only parliament but all institutions”.

He said that he and Asif Ali Zardari have decided in principle that both parties will go together.

We move together for a democratic, forward looking Pakistan.

He said that both sides see eye to eye on the basic issues including supremacy of parliament, war on terror, provincial autonomy, federation, judiciary reforms.

“We are totally on board of each other and it will be a smooth sailing together” Khan said.

Talking to the media Asif Ali Zardari said that it has been decided in principle to work for Pakistan and the interest of democracy at large.
