Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi told reporters here Sunday that the BJP government had failed on all fronts, except on the count of “legalizing corruption and fooling people”.

Exhibiting a show of unity, Congress general secretary and former chief minister Digvijay Singh, new state Congress president Suresh Pachouri and Congress election committee’s state in-charge Rahul Singh were also present at the press briefing.

Jamuna Devi said the Congress would do whatever possible to expose “the misrule and rampant corruption” of the government. “The Dumper issue pertaining to corruption by the chief minister (Shivraj Singh Chouhan) and his family would once again be raised as a proof of corruption in the present regime,” she added.

“As many as 157 blocks of 37 districts were hit by drought, with the Gwalior and Bundelkhand regions facing a host of problems including drinking water crisis. People are migrating to other places but the government is sitting with its fingers crossed. It has failed to provide relief even to the farmers,” she alleged.

She also said the state was faced with the worst ever power crisis and the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board and power companies were neck deep in corruption. As a result the farmers were being slapped with inflated bills even as they were suffering from power shortage.

Jamuna Devi earlier held a meeting with Congress leaders at her residence to draw up the strategy for taking up various issues during the session.

The session will formally commence with the address by Governor Balram Jakhar and conclude April 4. The budget presentation is scheduled for Feb 27.
