Abu Dhabi : The emirate of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) plans to build a new oil refinery, according to the general manager of Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company TAKREER, WAM news agency reported Monday.
The planned capacity of the new refinery would be 417,000 barrels per day (bpd) and it would be completed by 2013, Jasem Ali Sayegh said Monday while speaking at the ninth annual meeting of the Middle East Refining Conference in Abu Dhabi.
The new refinery would be located in Ruwais, some 240 km from Abu Dhabi City, and would almost double the emirate’s current installed refining capacity of around 485,000 bpd.
Abu Dhabi’s refining operations are run by TAKREER, which took the responsibility from Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
