Berlin : Russian nuclear rockets will target Poland and the Czech Republic, if those countries allow the deployment of the controversial US missile defense in their land, Russia’s Ambassador to NATO Dmitri Rogosin told the weekly Der Spiegel news magazine in a report to be published on Sunday.
The Russian official branded American plans for stationing the anti-missile system in Poland and the Czech Republic as an “unfriendly act.”
Moscow has repeatedly warned of a new military confrontation with its two former satellite states in connection with plans by the United States to base a missile shield in Eastern Europe.
America seeks to deploy 10 long-range missile interceptors in Poland and a radar track system in the Czech Republic.
Moscow claims also the system would threaten its strategic nuclear arsenal.
Poland is reportedly still undecided on given its green light for the deployment of the US missile shield, according to Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.
