Federal CID Narcotics Deputy Director Mohd Shukri Dahlan said the first arrest was made on a Pakistani in Jalan Chow Kit here at 5.30pm yesterday and after that, the police picked up the other four nearby.

Following investigations on the suspects, police found the drugs in two fresh milk bottles, two drink cartons and a fast food container, he told a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police Headquarters today.

He said police believed the suspects, aged between 27 and 39, used Malaysia as a transit point before bringing the contraband to another country.

“The drugs are not for the local market,” he said.

Shukri said the three Africans had been in the country with student visas over the past year while the Pakistanis entered Malaysia a week ago as tourists.

Police believed they had links with several other suspects who had been arrested and something to do with cases where Malaysian female students were nabbed overseas for drug smuggling, he said.

“There must be a mastermind but we do not know who he is. We are also not sure where the drugs are heading for,” he said.

Besides the drugs, he said, police also seized US$28,702, Rupee 1,200, S$2, 545 Taka (Bangladesh), 52 Yuan (China) and RM785 from the suspects who had been placed under remand until March 17.
