Baghdad : The death toll from a car bomb attack in central Baghdad on Thursday rose to 10, with 50 others wounded, an Interior Ministry source said on Friday.
“The final toll from the Bab al-Sharji area car bombing rose to10 killed and 50 others injured,” the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The attack took place at about 2:00 p.m. (1100 GMT) when a booby-trapped car parking near the commercial building of al-Khaiyam in the crowded area of Bab al-Sharji detonated, the source said.
Earlier, the source put the toll at seven civilians killed and 20 others wounded.
Violence and bloodshed in Iraq have increased recently, despite the U.S. military’s announcement of a 60 percent drop in attacks since last June.
