Soulful rendition of ghazals by Anita Singhvi livens up evening

New Delhi : For the VIPs of Delhi it was an evening to remember as Anita Singhvi, who is into Sufi and ghazal signing, Friday launched her third album “Zah-e-naseeb”, composed by Bollywood’s renowned composer Khayyam.

“Anita doesn’t try to copy anybody and that’s what I like about her,” said Khayyam, who has churned out classical hits like “Umrao Jaan” and “Razia Sultan”.

While actor Farooq Sheikh, who was the compere, entertained the audience with his humour, Anita’s soulful singing added magic to the event.

Anita, a pupil of Pandit Kshir Sagar of Gwalior Gharana, has been a recipient of several awards, including the Rajiv Gandhi Rashtriya Ekta Award and Kalptaru Award. Her earlier albums were “Naqsh-e-Noor” and “Sada-e-Sufi”.

While unveiling “Zah-e-naseeb”, Home Minister Shivraj Patil said he is impressed with Anita’s singing.

“Her songs have such quality that it brings people together and create harmony. We hope she continues to sing like this,” he said.

Big Music, a subsidiary of Reliance Entertainment, has produced the album. Tina Anil Ambani, the vice chairman of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, was also present at the function.

The event was presided by Ram Jethmalani, Farukh Abdullah, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Robert Vadra and Pakistan High Commissioner Shahib Malik.

Also present at the do was Anita’s husband Abhishek Singhvi, who is also the Congress spokesperson.
