Chennai : Union Minister G.K. Vasan and Congress leader Jayanthi Natarajan filed their nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha here Saturday.
Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and senior DMK leaders, including M.K. Stalin, were present on the occasion to lend support to the ruling party’s most important ally, the Congress party.
The DMK has fielded two candidates, A.A. Jinnah and Vasantha Stanley, while its ally, the Communist Party of India-Marxist has fielded T.K. Rangarajan.
Elections to the upper house of parliament are scheduled for March 26.
