The RSS representative body, holding its three-day annual meet, which began here Friday, spelt out its policies through resolutions that were adopted unanimously. The resolution on education said the education system of a country should fulfil the aim of all-round development of the student’s personality, inculcate a feeling of national pride and social responsibility and contribute to the needs of national development.

“But our education system has by and large failed on all these counts,” it said.

It also noted that the entry of foreign educational service providers in a big way with purely commercial motives was a matter of concern.

“The rising cost of education portends the danger of widening the gap of social inequality by making education unaffordable for students from the economically weaker sections of the society,” the resolution said.

The RSS favoured promotion of local languages as medium of instruction.

Another resolution on the status of women in India said: “It must be ensured that there is no discriminatory behaviour against them and their participation in the decision-making process is always upheld. “
