In his report, which is not an exclusive report on Muslims, Prof. Sukh Dev made the revelation about the discrimination of Muslims in private companies. He was actually reviewing discrimination against Dalits in private sector. During the research, he came to know that in comparison to Dalits and backward classes, it was much more difficult for Muslims to get job in private sector. According to Prof. Sukh Dev, even if some of them succeeded in getting employment in private sector, they are given less salaries and fewer fringe benefits.

Sachar Committee had earlier exposed the educational, economic and social degradation of Muslims in independent India. The Committee’s report plainly articulated that Muslims are discriminated against only because they are Muslims. Their share in government employment is very low. Their loan applications are rejected by banks. Muslim dominated areas are gradually turning into ghettos because no development work is undertaken there.
