CBI files status report in anti-Sikh riot case

New Delhi : Pulled up for its lackadaisical attitude in probing cases of anti-Sikh riots of 1984, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Wednesday filed the status report in the Karkardooma court in a case involving Congress leader Jagdish Tytler.

“The CBI has submitted the report in a sealed report in the court and it will come up for hearing Aug 26,” H.S. Phoolka, counsel for Sikh victims, told IANS.

The agency’s status report pertains to the statements of four victims of the violence that broke out in the aftermath of the assassination of prime minister Indira Gandhi.

On March 12, the court had taken a strong exception to the failure of the investigating agency in filing a status report in the case and asked it to do so within a week.
