Bhopal : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has assured the Madhya Pradesh government will soon have a medical institution on the lines of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and the money sanctioned will be released in a month’s time, a top state official said here Thursday.
Commercial Tax Minister Babulal Gaur said he met the prime minister in New Delhi and requested him that the money sanctioned for the 300-bed hospital be released soon.
“The prime minister has assured that he would get the sanctioned money released in a month’s time. The hospital once started would benefit millions who have to go to Delhi and Mumbai for treatment which costs them dearly,” Gaur said.
Gaur said that the prime minister also assured him that free treatment facility would be extended to all survivors of Bhopal gas tragedy. At present, only people in 36 of the 56 municipal wards who were affected in the Bhopal gas tragedy have been given this facility.
Gaur also sought the prime minister’s help in speeding up the Ken-Betwa river link project, which once completed would to a great extent help solve the irrigation and drinking water problem of the Bundelkhand area to a great extent.
