Baghdad : Coalition jets dropped bombs on Basra for the first time since clashes erupted between Shiite militias and security forces this week, a British military
official said Friday, according to AP.
Iraq security forces asked for air strikes on at least two locations, the military official said.
The official could not provide additional information on the nature of the targets or how many people were killed or injured in the bombings.
Coalition jets have been patrolling the skies for three days over Basra, where Iraqis have been of control of security since the British withdrew last December.
