Jabalpur: The Madhya Pradesh police have continued their crackdown on Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) members in Madhya Pradesh.
The police have arrested five more SIMI activists form Jabalpur. Many others have already been arrested from Ujjain and Indore. The police raids on Muslim dominated areas and arrest of Muslim youths have sent a wave of anxiety among Muslim masses. After the arrest of SIMI activist from Ujjain and Indore, vigilance has been increased in Jabalpur too.
Giving details of the Jabalpur arrest, the city police said they got the news about SIMI members through intelligence sources that several SIMI activists are hiding in Gopalpura area. The police raided the area and arrested five young men who are suspected to be SIMI activists. He told that all those areas of the city are under strict vigilance where presence of SIMI activists is suspected. Meanwhile, combing operations are going on in Muslim localities of Jabalpur that have sent uneasy waves among the Muslim community.
Sheikh Sarfaraz, Mohammad Shafique, Mohammad Yunus, Ghayasuddin and Naseer Ahmad Ansari are the young men arrested in Jabalpur. It is also reported that attempts are on to arrest Muslim youths from all important cities of Madhya Pradesh and combing operations on the pattern of Jabalpur are being conducted there, especially the acquaintances and friends of arrested young men are being interrogated, harassed and arrested on accusations of being associated with SIMI. Such actions have spread terror among Muslims in Madhya Pradesh.
