Rabat : Sheikha Fatima Campaign for eye surgery and combating blindness in Morocco, which was launched last year, has achieved great success in treating eye patients and in recovering sight for many visually-impaired persons in Morocco. This great gesture from Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Supreme Chairperson of the family Development Foundation and Chairperson of the General Women’s Union has greatly contributed to alleviating the suffering of patients in that area, WAM reported quoting a UAE diplomat in Morocco as saying.
The campaign’s caravan, which includes a mobile clinic equipped with all necessary modern equipment and provided with ophthalmologists, has managed to conduct more than 1700 surgical operations for eye patients who had been suffering from cataract glaucoma problems, and managed to recover sight for many blind persons. Salim Ali Al Ka’abi, UAE consul to Morocco and coordinator of the campaign said: “The UAE-Moroccan mobile clinic for eye surgery has toured the different parts of Morocco and succeeded to treat hundreds of patients at distant areas all around the kingdom.” He mentioned a case in which the campaign had managed to recover sight for a woman who lost her sight 30 years ago.
Yasmina Badou, Moroccan minister of health, hailed the humanitarian gestures of Sheikha Fatima all around the world, especially in Morocco.
