Mumbai : Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) has bagged four orders worth $421.6 million (Rs.16.87 billion) from the Rajasthan government, Bhushan Steel-Orissa, SAIL Bokaro Steel Plant and the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), the firm said Tuesday.
The company will commission a $158.7 million (Rs.6.35 billion) water supply project in the parched areas of Barmer in Rajasthan for the Public Health Engineering Department. It will be completed by mid-2009 and provide safe drinking water for the people of Jaisalmar and Barmer, including military bases in the region, the company said in a statement.
The L&T-Outotec consortium of the company will construct a $138.7 million steel plant for Bhushan Steel Ltd at Meramandali, Orissa. When completed within 30 months, it will have a gross production capacity of 4.60 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).
The firm will construct a cold roll mill for Steel Authority of India (SAIL) to expand its capacity to 7 MTPA. Estimated to cost $68 million, the project involves construction of foundations for shops as well as for all other equipment and will be completed in two years.
L&T-ECC has secured another contract worth $82.5 million from Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for constructing a Coal Handling Plant at their Thermal Power Project in Koderma, Jharkhand.
