Six injured in gas pipe burst, fire in Delhi

New Delhi : Six labourers sustained severe burn injuries when a gas pipe burst inside a factory in the Samaipur Badli area Tuesday, the police said.

The explosion occurred around 5 p.m. when the gas pipe burst and caused an explosion that brought down the temporary shed of the factory. Motor spare parts were being manufactured at the factory.

The six workers – Amrit Lal, Vipin, Kamlesh, Chandeswar, Sanjay and Santosh – were trapped inside and suffered severe burn injuries.

The fire brigade officials rescued the injured and admitted them to the Jai Prakash Narayan hospital, where the condition of five men was said to be critical.

“Amrit Lal suffered 20 percent burn injuries while the others were critical with 90-100 percent burn injuries,” said a police official.
