Mohammed also told his family, the remarks reported in the media, that his 21 years old wife had miscarried in the prison due to physical and psychological abuse, describing the prison as “Austrian Guantanamo”.

The head of the prisons administration strongly denied the charges, stressing that the administration suggested the wife, Mona, be examined by a competent doctor, but she refused the offer.

He added that the current circumstances forced the administration to instruct the prisoners to speak in German, after calls by the kidnappers of two Austrian hostages that Mohammed and his wife be released and demands for ransom in exchange for the two hostages’ freedom.

The kidnappers are said to be members of Al-Qaeda in Al-Arab Maghreb outfit.

The prisoner was denied three consecutive visits and held in solitary confinement for a whole week, due to his continues agitated behavior towards the guards and officials.
