Zambia Head of State Mwanawasa said that Saturday’s meeting here will debate how to help people from that sister nation avoid more damage.

Since the general elections last March 29, Zimbabwe has been living an unprecedented political crisis.

Voting results for the presidential seat have not yet been released by the Electoral Commission, which causes an increasing sense of tension.

The opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) won by majority in parliament with 109 seats to 97 of the ruling Zimbabwe National African Union-Democratic Front (ZANU-PF).

Mwanasawa’s call comes at the same time as a tour of MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai, who is trying to persuade the SADC Head of States or Government to adopt positions regarding the episodes taking place in the neighbor country.

SADC members are Angola, South Africa, Botswana, Congo Democratic Republic, Mozambique Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe, the Mauricio Islands, Tanzania, Lesotho and Malawi.
