Dems Prefer Obama to Face McCain

Washington : Fifty-one percent of Democrats considered Barack Obama the best choice to face Republican candidate John McCain in the US presidential elections in November, as revealed by a poll published by local newspaper The Washington Post Wednesday.

In the poll made together with ABC News, The Washington Post revealed Hillary Clinton, former US First Lady, received the support of 41 percent of the questioned US citizens, which is distant from the protagonism reached by her in other polls.

The investigation said Obama, Senator for the state of Illinois, is widely leading in some categories, and reduced Clinton’s edge in the rest of the aspects.

Obama is seen as the opposite politician with the greatest opportunities to become President of the US and reach some changes in the country, while Clinton, a legislator for New York, was regarded as more experienced.

Fifity-four percent of the US citizens assured they had a negative image on Clinton in the poll.

Both politicians will develop a debate in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which is considered a decisive one for the elections in that US state on April 22 for the dispute of a total of 158 delegates.

US specialized website Rear Clear Politics said Obama counts on 1,642 delegates, while Clinton has 1,507, of the required 2,025 to get the Democrat nomination at the National Democrat Convention in Denver, Colorado, in August.
