New Delhi : It was a bright and sunny day in Delhi as the national capital welcomed the Olympic torch relay with a pleasant weather even though the central parts of the country saw heat wave conditions.
The day was perfect in the national capital for a jog with the Olympic flame as the maximum temperature was around 37 degrees Celsius. The day’s low was at 20.4 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, intense heat wave conditions prevail in parts of central India, Vidharbha and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
The Met Office in its weather bulletin said, “Maximum temperatures are 40-43 degrees Celsius over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and adjoining states of Orissa and Jharkhand. The temperatures are 2-4 degrees above normal.”
But the weather office added that the mercury may dip one or two degrees Celsius in the region in the coming days.
It was wet again in the northeastern states with the temperature below normal in most parts of the region. The weather office has forecast more rain for northeastern states and parts of West Bengal and Sikkim.
