Moscow : The Russian language encyclopedia “Modern Islam in Russia” compiled by Roman Silantyev, an expert on religious issues, is now available in Moscow. It has published this volume in terms of the Russian Education and Science Ministry’s program for training specialists on Islamic culture and history in 2007-2010, Interfax reported quoting Algoritm publishing house. This program has been implemented by the Moscow State Linguistic University.
“The encyclopedia is the first publication offering a comprehensive historical and geographical view of Russia’s Islamic community as a whole and its regional communities. The book describes all Muslim Boards working in Russia, political and nongovernmental Muslim organizations, radical pseudo-Islamic groups, madrasahs, Muslim media outlets, publishing houses, enterprises of Halal industry,” the publishing house told Interfax-Religion. The volume provides contact information on the majority of the Muslim organizations described. The publication can be used as a reference source on all aspects of modern Islam. It contains biographies of major Muslim leaders and more than 300 illustrations and maps.
