New Delhi : P.R.S. Oberoi, the 82-year-old chairman and CEO of the Oberoi Group of Hotels, was Saturday honoured with the SATTE Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the hotel industry.
Oberoi, who was earlier awarded with Padma Vibhushan by the Indian government, said the hotel industry still had a long way to go. “More constructive efforts need to be made in the hotel industry along with the airline industry and tour operators,” Oberoi said after accepting the South Asia Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE) award.
The SATTE 2008 awards in other categories were given to those who have contributed in the hotel, tourism and the aviation sectors. The award for Builder of World Class Infrastructure, Young Achiever’s Award and SATTE INTACH Awards are some among the other major awards.
J.M. Lyngdoh, the former chief election commissioner, and S.K. Mishra, the former union tourism secretary, were given awards for their long association with SATTE. The Young Achiever’s Awards were given to Kapil Kaul, CEO of Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation, Deep Kalra, CEO of Make My Trip. Com, Ankur Bhatia and Manav Thadani.
