New Delhi : Emaar MGF, the joint venture between Dubai-based Emaar Properties and India's MGF group, is set to win the bid for building the Commonwealth Games village, says the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
"After initial screening, Emaar MGF stands as the lone bidder for the Commonwealth Games village. We will finalise the bidder and officially announce the name of the bidder by Monday evening," Neemo Dhar, public relations director of the capital's housing authority, told IANS.
Eleven groups had submitted tenders to bid for the right to build the Games Village, which is to come up in near the river Yamuna in east Delhi. The initial screening by DDA left only Emaar MGF in the running.
The location of the village, which is on the floodplains of the river, has come under some controversy with environmentalists demanding that the site be shifted.
Around 8,000 homes will be built for the Commonwealth Games that start Oct 3, 2010.
