Kuwait : Information Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah hoped Sunday that the 4th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) would contribute to realizing the vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in transforming Kuwait into a regional financial and commercial center.
The minister’s statement came upon inauguartion of the press center of the WIEF, which will kick off here on Tuesday, with the attendance of Deputy Chairman of the Forum’s Higher Organizing Committee and Advisor at His Highness the Prime Minister’s Diwan Sheikh Dr. Salem Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
The minister emphasized that achieving His Highness the Amir’s vision required creating an encouraging legislative and investment environment, ensuring Kuwait’s openness to the world, and benefiting from international expertise.
He pointed out that the large number of participants in the WIEF would be an opportunity to exchange opinions and information on trade opportunities among Islamic countries.
He described the forum as “big and important.” The minister stressed the significant role of media in contributing to the success of such international events, adding that the Information Ministry would provide all needed services for the media personnel covering the WIEF.
On his part, the organizing committee’s deputy chairman welcomed all local and foreign media delegations and said employees from the ministry would be available at the center around the clock to ensure all the media personnel’s needs were accomodated.
The media center, which has different communication technology, contains a service center and a section to document the forum’s activities in both Arab and English.
The three-day forum is held under the patronage of His Highness the Amir and will be attended by leaders and senior officials of Islamic countries.
