Amman : Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has said that he received assurances from the Israelis and Americans regarding the Palestinian situation, but stressed there should be practical implementation on the ground.
Abbas told reporters after a meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah Sunday that it was import to find a new political prospect in the next phase based on international grounds, the Arab peace initiative, and the vision of US President George W. Bush.
Regarding Hamas, Abbas said there was no dialogue with the “rebels” who staged the coup in Gaza, adding that Hamas was conducting worse things behind the scenes than what was shown in the media.
On his talks with King Abdullah, Abbas said the two sides discussed the latest developments on the ground in Gaza, along with topics which would be discussed in the summit.
The Sharm El-Sheikh summit, which will take place Monday, will cover the humanitarian and financial conditions of Palestinians, as well as the issue of refugees.
