Kuala Lumpur : Malaysian conglomerate UEM Group will be showcasing its capabilities and projects in Malaysia and overseas at the fourth World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) to be held in Kuwait from Tuesday until May 1.
The group said in a statement here Monday that it would feature past, present and future projects in Malaysia, such as the Bukit Jalil Sports Complex, and the construction of highways in India and Qatar, at the forum, with special focvus on the Nusajaya mixed development project in the Iskandar Malaysia development zone in the southern Malaysian state of Johor.
“It is hoped that UEM Group would be able to attract various potential business partners, especially from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and Qatar. It is hoped that through our participation, UEM Group would be able to venture into these emerging markets and expand the expertise that UEM Group possesses,” said its International Business (West Asia) senior director, Rosli Sharif.
The three-day forum, with the theme “Islamic Countries: Partners in Global Development”, aims to be a platform for positive and healthy inter-action between government leaders and business communities within the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
UEM Group’s subsidiary companies are also participating in the Forum, namely PLUS Expressways Berhad, UEM Builders Berhad, UEM Land Sendirian Berhad, UEM Environment Sendirian Berhad, PROPEL Berhad, Faber Medi-Serve Sendirian Berhad and MAVTRAC Sendirian Berhad.
