Taiwan’s foreign currency reserves hit $289.3 bn

Taipei : Taiwan’s foreign currency reserves hit $289.3 billion by the end of April, the world’s fifth-largest after those of China, Japan, Russia and India, the central bank said Monday.

Taiwan’s foreign currency reserves increased by $2.5 billion in April from the preceding month amid the accumulation of interest and the remittance back to Taiwan of Taiwanese life insurance firms’ overseas investments, the central bank said.
