Speaking at the inauguration of his campaign headquarters in Bayan Tuesday evening, he said the last development plan that was adopted was in the mid-1970s, while the most recent five-year plan was placed in 1981.

“We do not encourage frustration, but we are ringing the bells of danger,” he said, adding that we were at “a new turn point that will determine the outlook for the future.” He spoke of the future generations’ fund that was established in 1981 and the fact that, today, youth were not able to find suitable jobs.

The candidate also pointed to the educational, housing and pension problems.

Moreover, Johar said that if elected, he would support an MP evaluation program.

— Another candidate in the first constituency, Mohammad Al-Hufaiti, affirmed that cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities constituted the best means for the development of the country.

MPs should refrain from settling personal scores while judging executives’ performance, and the members of the parliament should focus on issues that concern the nationals, he said.

Al-Hufaiti has been running for a parliamentary seat since 1992, but has never garnered a sufficient number of votes to win.
