Campaign to reduce malnutrition in Madhya Pradesh kids

Bhopal : A campaign aimed at reducing malnutrition among children would be conducted across Madhya Pradesh from May 15, an official said.

Chief Secretary Rakesh Sahni asked the district collectors to set their targets for reducing malnutrition during this phase, chalk out a detailed action plan and implement it effectively, Woman and Child Development Commissioner Kalpana Shrivastava told IANS.

She said an action plan would be chalked out with the help of health department officials and representatives of Unicef for better implementation of the campaign, Bal Sanjivani Abhiyan, at the district level.

Prior to implementation of the campaign, a core group headed by the collector would be constituted to chalk out strategy for the 12th phase of the campaign.

The children up to five years of age would be weighed for identifying their level of malnutrition. Children from nine months to five years of age would be administered vitamin-A and de-worming tablets on expert’s advice.

Under the campaign, health check-up camps would be held after weighing the children. Counselling camps would be organised.
