Shimla : Himachal Pradesh Governor Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje Thursday became the first governor of the state to complete his term in the last twenty years.
The records of the Raj Bhavan (governor’s house) here reveal that among the 18 governors the state has had since its formation in 1971, only the first governor S. Chakravorti was able to complete his five-year term.
The sixteen governors that followed Chakravorti could not, somehow, complete their tenures. Now after a gap of 20 years, it is Kokje, the eighteenth governor, who has been able to complete his term in office.
Kokje, 68, is former acting chief justice of the Rajasthan High Court and hails from Madhya Pradesh.
