Olmert: We Will Halt Rocket Fire from Gaza

Tel Aviv : Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert threatened to stem rocket fire from Palestinian territory after one such device hit a shopping center in Ashkelon on Wednesday, wounding 14 people, three of them seriously.

He made his warning at a ceremony to mark the 60th anniversary of the creation of the State of Israel, during which US President George W. Bush ratified his support of Tel Aviv.

Olmert described as intolerable and unacceptable what happened in the shopping center and vowed to take “the necessary steps” to stem rocket fire from the Gaza Strip.

But he failed to mention the four Palestinians killed and another nine wounded in two Israeli Air Force operations, also including armoured vehicles, in northern and southern Gaza today.
