Kuwait : Justice Jawad Abdullah, chairman of the primary committee of the 3rd constituency, announced Sunday morning winners of the district in 2008 parliamentary elections for the 12th legislative term.
Faisal Al-Mislem Al-Otaibi, with a smashing 12,695 votes, was born in 1962 and holds a PhD in modern and contemporary political history from the University of Wales. He is a member of Kuwait University’s Arts Faculty. He was elected MP in 2003 and 2006.
Second was Adel Al-Saraawi with 11,242 votes, was was born in 1962 and holds a bachelors degree in accounting. He held a number of leading positions with the Public Authority for Assessment of Compensation for Damages Resulting from Iraqi Aggression. Al-Saraawi became a member of the National Assembly in 2003 and 2006.
Walid Al-Tabtabae, born in 1964, won 9,753 votes. He holds a PhD in Islamic Sharia (laws) and taught at Kuwait University. He was a member in the National Assembly in 1996, 1999, 2003 and 2006. Al-Tabtabae was also editor-in-chief of Al-Mishkat magazine and wrote columns in Al-Watan and Al-Rai Al-Aam newspapers, and Al-Deera magazine.
Ali Al-Omair, winning 8,931 votes, was born in 1958 and holds a PhD in analytical chemistry and taught in the UAE University in 1990 and 1991, at Kuwait University between 1992 and 1994, and at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training between 1994 and 1997. He was elected MP in 2006.
Newcomer Saleh Al-Mulla, who won 7,656 votes, was born in 1971 and holds a bachelors degree in business from Kuwait University. He worked as a diplomat, and is currently engaged in the global marketing sector of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.
Ahmad Al-Mulaifi, in sixth place with 6,948 votes, was born in 1956 and holds a masters in law. He held a number of legal positions and became a member of the National Assembly in 1996, 2003 and 2006.
Roudhan Al-Roudhan, making his debut as an MP with 6,586 votes, was born in 1965 and holds a diploma. He was vice president of the Municipal Council between 1999 and 2001, and chairman of the council between 2001 and 2003.
Abdulaziz Al-Shayji, who has to quit his membership in the Municipal Council after winning 6,250 votes, Al-Shayji was born in 1967 and holds a bachelors degree in architectural engineering from the University of Miami. He was a member of the Municipal Council in 2005.
Veteran Ahmad Al-Sadoun came ninth with 6,105 votes. Born in 1934, Al-Saadoun holds a degree in literature. He was formerly the assistant undersecretary for mail and telephone, and member of the National Assembly in 1975-2006. He was elected deputy speaker in 1981, and speaker in 1985, 1992, and 1996.
Nasser Al-Sanae, winning 6,058 votes, was born in 1955 and holds a masters degree in business and a PhD in administrative development. He was a member of the National Assembly in 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003 and 2006.
