Kolkata : German football giant Bayern Munich touched down in the city Sunday to play a one-off exhibition match against Mohun Bagan Tuesday.
The 21-member Munich team arrived amidst the cacophony of around 200 welcoming fans and huge media gathering at the Subhas Chandra Bose international airport here.
Known as the ‘German Wall’, veteran goalkeeper Oliver Kahn will play his farewell match at Salt Lake stadium here.
All India Football Federation vice-president Subrata Datta and Kumar Shankar Bagchi, director of Bengal Perless, the organisers, were present to receive the team.
Huge cut outs and hoardings of Kahn welcomed the visitors as the team left for the hotel led by a convoy of eight police vehicles.
