Atwal, looking for a good finish to improve his position on the Nationwide Money List in his quest to make the PGA Tour next year, slipped from overnight tied 11th to finish tied 22nd. The low finish saw Atwal drop on the Nationwide Money List to 16th after the Bank of America Open.

Atwal (67, 72, 69, 71) ended the tournament with an overall score of nine under 279. He finished seven strokes behind the eventual winner, American Kris Blanks.

Atwal’s final round saw him make birdies on the eighth, 10th, 14th, 18th, drop a double bogey on the third and a bogey on the ninth.

Blanks entered the final round in a three-way tie with Skip Kendall (76) and David McKenzie (72) but rose to the top of the final standings thanks to a solid 4-under 68, which included five birdies and just one bogey.

With the victory, Blanks collects $135,000 and leaps from No. 31 to No. 5 on the official money list, with $205,505. More important, he moves a step closer to earning one of the coveted 25 PGA TOUR cards for the 2009 season.
