Mumbai : Power and engineering major ABB has bagged orders worth Rs.2.95 billion (US$74 million) to provide power equipment for JSW Energy’s upcoming project in Ratnagiri, a coastal district in Maharashtra.
According to a regulatory intimation, ABB will provide systems to manage all the plant’s electrical equipment, as well as gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and generator transformers.
In the statement, ABB’s Power Systems division head Peter Leupp said that through this project, JSW Energy “with whom we have a long standing relationship, power would be fed to the western grid. Moreover, it is a known fact that our power products and systems will ensure safe and reliable operation of the plant while optimising energy consumption of the plant.”
ABB will also be supplying transformers, designed and manufactured for high reliability, reduced life cycle costs and optimised electrical design for minimised losses.
JSW Energy is part of the JSW Group, an Indian conglomerate with interests in steel, power, cement, aluminium, software and infrastructure industries.
