Prades for Australian troops who served in Iraq

Melbourne : Australian troops who served in Iraq will be honoured with parades in Darwin and Brisbane, as well as an event in Townsville in Queensland .

Australia officially ended its combat role in southern Iraq this week with the 550-member battlegroup preparing to return home.

Earlier this week Prime Minister Kevin announced they would be honoured with a welcome home parade on June 28 in Brisbane .

The Defence Department Friday released further details of the Brisbane event, as well as notice of a parade in Darwin on July 5.

More than 500 troops are expected to march through the Brisbane city, accompanied by a convoy of support vehicles.

Around 500 soldiers are also expected for the Darwin parade, also accompanied by a convoy of vehicles.

Defence Department said four of the six task force rotations to southern Iraq came from Darwin ‘s 1st Brigade.

A welcome home activity will also be held in Townsville on July 20.
