Global Women Summit in Vietnam

Hanoi : Almost 1,000 representatives from 70 countries are meeting in Vietnam starting today to discuss the role of women in global economy, and particularly in Asia, as part of the 2008 Global Women’s Summit.

The three-day forum will be focused on the exchange of experiences and contacts with practical goals, said Irene Natividad, president of Global Women’s Summit, a non-profit making organization to promote female development.

The meeting’s agenda is also centered on the world impact of Asia-Pacific economies, and business opportunities and challenges for female entrepreneurs in the Asia Pacific region.

The organizing Committee of this 18th Summit is chaired by Tran Thi Thuy, vice chairwoman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Upon welcoming participants, Thuy said the Hanoi meeting will have a positive impact on Vietnamese women and the country’s economy.
