Pakistan favours tri-nation gas pipeline

New Delhi : Salman Faruqui, deputy chairman of Pakistan’s planning commission, Tuesday said his country favoured implementation of the $7.4 billion India-Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline.

“We are keen to see the pipeline project through. We believe that India is in the forefront on this issue,” Faruqui told reporters here.

Faruqui, along with a high-level delegation, met Indian planning commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and other members of the panel. After the meeting, he said that if the pipeline came up, it would benefit both India and Pakistan.
